Grade 5 - iCreate - Positive and Negative Space
Students in grade 5 created the following technology and art project - combining the idea of iTunes and a favorite 'past time'. Students used Sumopaint to create the following - you can try it out for free too! http://www.sumopaint.com
We talked about positive and negative space - negative space being the area around the subject and positive space being the actual subject. We also talked about how silhouette can express what we're doing (or thinking). The kids had to pick an action - such as iPaint - had to choose a prop related to that action. I took the photo of them doing that 'character' - then using Sumopaint (http://www.sumopaint.com) students deleted the negative space then fill with one color then do the same with the positive space but fill with black to create the silhouette. I have to give create to Tricia Fuglestad, art teacher of Illinois.
Enjoy!
